Here is the email I received from Senator Charles Grassley's office after signing up for tickets on his website!
Congratulations! Your name has been chosen from a lottery to receive 2 tickets to the Inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
To reserve these tickets you must contact our office no later than Wednesday, December 10th, by responding to this email or calling Barrett Anderson at (202) 224-3744. We are committed to ensuring that as many Iowans as possible are able to witness this historic event and we have hundreds of people on our waiting list. If we do not hear from you by the December 10th deadline any tickets being held for you will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
Once your tickets have been confirmed, they will be available for pick-up on Monday, January 19th from 9 AM to 5 PM in Senator Grassley’s office in room 135 of the Hart Senate Office Building. We are unable to send Inauguration tickets through US mail or any other courier service. These tickets are non-transferrable.
The Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony will take place on the West Front steps of the Capitol Building. Gates open at 9 AM and the ceremony begins at 11:30 AM. Attendees will be required to pass through several security checkpoints so you are encouraged to arrive early. Please dress appropriately, as the Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony is historically very cold and wet and attendees will be required to stand outside for several hours. More information on the ceremony, including prohibited items, directions, etc, can be found on the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) website at http://inaugural.senate.gov/2009/tickets.cfm.
For information regarding the Inaugural Parade or the Inaugural Balls, please visit the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s (PIC) website at http://www.pic2009.org/content/home/. Senator Grassley’s office does not issue tickets or passes to any Inaugural event other than the swearing-in ceremony.
A reception hosted by the Iowa Congressional Delegation is being planned following the Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony. More information on this event will be forthcoming.
As you can imagine, media interest in President-elect Obama’s Inauguration is at an all-time high. Our office has gotten requests from the Iowa media to provide names of ticket recipients. We have informed the Iowa media that we will not share any of your contact information unless we have your permission. So, if you are willing to talk to the Iowa media about your visit, please indicate this when you respond to our office about your tickets.
Please keep an eye on the JCCIC and PIC’s websites for more information on this historic event. We look forward to hearing from you by December 10th.
